stage furniture for hay literary festival
the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) supported the hay literary festival for a number of years and commissioned these pieces of stage furniture in 2011.
american maple was used to create a pair of lecterns and a pair of small tables, making use of american red oak for details. the top sections of both items are made from a stack of rectangular maple frames with radiused corners, each frame being wrapped in a continuous band of steam bent maple veneer.
both items were designed to be lightweight with removable legs to allow them to be packed up and transported to hay's other festivals around the world.
